There comes a point in lens prescription strength where plastic frames are too heavy, and wire frames too thin to hold even the most technologically compressed lens. I spent two hours negotiating a return of my ill-fitting glasses with a particularly stubborn and thick-headed sales representative, and ended up picking out a new pair of frames--wire ones--pretty much at random. I had to take my contacts out at one point, which meant I only have a blurry picture of how the new ones look.
Oh, well.
