Oct. 4th, 2005 04:17 pmFor my Literature class, we were asked to read the Book of Job and write a response to it.
I think I may have waxed a little bit sarcastic. No, not sarcastic. That's too sharp a word. Facetious. I love that term; it applies to so many-many things. I got a bit shirty with God. Well, really. He wanders around ruining peoples' lives and then says:
HA! YOU CAN'T QUESTION ME (or you can, but I won't answer) BECAUSE I AM GOD.
It's like an exercise in the futility of trying to rationally understand religion. I think I may be too stupid for the Bible.
I imagine that the Catholic Church had the right idea in not letting the common people read the Bible. Honestly, if they were anything like me, they wouldn't have had a clue A. what the book is getting at or B. if it says what I think it says, why would anyone want to be religious?
And then, of course, God would have had to smite everyone.
